Wisconsin is “up north” to Illinoisans. Rarely did my family go somewhere else for a vacation. First it was Two Rivers, next it was Arbor Vitae, then Chetek and finally Hazelhurst.
I have so many memories of most of those trips. Technically I own half a house in Hazelhurst — the lake house — but I have not been there in years because it has no internet (or reliable cell service) and of course I cannot not work 365 days a year.
Maybe I will go up north again when I retire. I miss the loons.

I’d love that, but since my brother is likely moving to the lake house in the next few years, I don’t think there would be room for all of us.
Sigh. Loons. I got to hear some when I skipped Halloween.
