312/365 The Strip District

Besides the tunnel that Kim wrote about, my favorite Pittsburgh thing to do was go to the strip district on Saturday mornings and buy groceries.

We’d get cheese, pasta and olive oil at The Pennsylvania Macaroni Company where Kim already mentioned the bald woman behind the cheese counter. Our fish and meat came from Robert Wholey. We’d get our produce at one of the many vegetable vendors. They even had a coffee roaster back before coffee was really “in”.

Shopping was a joy, back in Pittsburgh. If Bethesda had a strip district I would not even think about online shopping.
